Beetle Engineering was built around a straightforward observation: the industrial operations of Central Queensland deserve engineering support that is actually close to where they operate. Capital city firms can deliver work in the regions, but the logistics add cost and reduce responsiveness.
A fault that needs an engineer on-site by morning is a different problem when your nearest engineer is a two-hour drive away versus a same-day flight. We are based in Mackay. Our engineers are available for on-site work across Central Queensland, North Queensland, and anywhere in Queensland where the project demands it.
The work we do spans the full scope of industrial electrical and automation engineering - from control system upgrades and SCADA migrations to RPEQ electrical design, fault response, and ongoing support contracts. Electrical Engineering
Dennis Murphy is the principal engineer at Beetle Engineering & Automation. He holds RPEQ registration in electrical engineering - the professional registration required to sign off on significant electrical modifications and new installations under Queensland electrical safety legislation.
His engineering background spans industrial automation, PLC and SCADA systems, electrical design, and control system integration across mining, sugar processing, manufacturing, and utilities applications. He has worked on Rockwell, Emerson, Beckhoff, AVEVA, and Ignition platforms across the full range of Central Queensland industrial operations.
RPEQ registration is not a formality - it is a requirement for compliant electrical engineering work in Queensland. Having RPEQ sign-off available in-house means clients do not need to engage a separate certifying engineer for projects that require it.

Significant electrical modifications and new installations in Queensland require RPEQ engineering sign-off. Our principal engineer holds RPEQ registration in electrical engineering, so clients do not need to engage a separate certifying engineer.
As-built documentation
Every project is handed back with documentation that reflects what was actually installed - marked-up drawings, as-built programs with comments, I/O lists, and any test records produced during commissioning.
Commissioning records
We produce commissioning records that document loop testing, functional testing, and any deviations from the design. These records provide a baseline for future maintenance and fault finding.
Safe work practices
Electrical work on industrial plant involves live systems, high-voltage equipment, and confined spaces. Our engineers work under safe work method statements appropriate to the site and the task.
